Walnut Key Lime Pie Smoothie


Treat yourself to a taste of the tropics with this filling breakfast smoothie. Featuring heart-healthy walnuts, chock-full of omega-3’s and fibre-rich avocado, this breakfast replacement will give you the fuel you need to kick-start your day.

1/2 ripe avocado from Mexico 1/2
1/2 small banana 1/2
3/4 cup cold water 175 mL
1/3 cup california walnuts (crumbs or halves) 75 mL
1/3 cup coconut milk (reduced fat) 75 mL
2 tbsp honey 30 mL
juice from 1 lime

In a blender or using a hand blender, combine all ingredients and process until smooth. About 1 minute.

Makes 1 serving.

Tip: Substitute coconut milk and water with soy or rice milk.  Try adding protein powder for a complete meal.
